From October 1-7, the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace will be featuring exclusive nightly events which dive into various topics related to the film, including underwater cinematography, exploration, artificial intelligence, sound and music composition and more.

Join us for the long-awaited Sydney premiere of Diving Into The Darkness in the main theatre at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace, Cremorne. Presenting the film on stage will be star Jill Heinerth and director Nays Baghai, with the Q&A session being facilitated by David Redhill. Join us for a screening and thought-provoking discussion on the seismic impact of AI in the worlds of education and learning. Joining Jill Heinerth and Nays Baghai will be Prof. Sarah Maddison, Deputy Vice Chancellor at UNSW, and Zane Kung-Faust, CEO of ULTIMO/Studios. Moderating the panel will be Chad Brown, Chief Product Officer at ULTIMO/Studios. But there’s a twist! The night mark the official launch of an A.I. clone of Jill, but the real human Jill herself will interact with the clone. Come see the future of learning!

Join us for a screening and a masterclass with three of the biggest names in the underwater imaging business. Cinematographers Jill Heinerth, Jon Shaw and Nays Baghai will unveil the secrets about the underwater cinematography process of Diving Into The Darkness, along with many other pro tips with what it takes to shoot underwater and balance technical precision with creativity. Moderating the panel will be technical diver and underwater photographer Yana Stashkevich.

Join us for a screening and panel discussion centred on storytelling in the harshest underwater environments on the planet, from the waves of the Arctic to the caves of Mexico and the deep shipwrecks of Australia. Moderated by underwater photographer Jayne Jenkins, the panel will include Nays Baghai (director, Diving Into The Darkness), Spencer Frost (director, The Corners Of The Earth), Yana Stashkevich (explorer, Vaggfjellan XI Expedition) and Samir Alhafith (explorer, Sydney Project).

Nays Baghai, Kailesh Reitmans and Demi Louise will unveil the secrets of the mysterious yet powerful soundscape of Diving Into The Darkness, from the utilisation of certain musical instruments to the creative and technical processes, and how sound design and music can be intertwined with each other.
