GEOGRAPHY AWARENESS WEEK
Geography Awareness Week is an annual event that aims to promote the importance of geography in understanding the world. Geography Awareness Week encourages educational activities and discussions around geographic themes, emphasizing how geography impacts our daily lives, the environment, and global issues. Schools, organizations, and communities can participate by hosting events, workshops, and activities to engage people of all ages in geographic education and exploration. Many schools and organizations in Canada celebrate Geography Awareness Week with workshops, films, festivals and presentations.
This year, the theme that Canadian Geographic Education has chosen for Geography Awareness Week is “Our collective responsibility to respect and protect our waters”. They have teamed up with Jill Heinerth to offer educator members who subscribe to Canadian Geographic Education an exclusive opportunity to screen “Diving into the Darkness”, an awe-inspiring odyssey about Jill’s journey of exploration, resilience and self-discovery into the planet’s deepest depths.
Members of Canadian Geographic Education are invited to register to receive a link to screen the film.
